Return to Main Menudzigns by ShivSpacer
You may wish to put your own OR an exchange Banner
OR even a "Welcome Message" here.

Explanation

Before you try it out, please read this.

The Basic Idea of the Script is to save space. Menubars invariably take up a lot of the screen area, specially since not many of us use "Big Screen" monitors (Huh!). That's what got me thinking about an alternative.

What happens here is, when you move your "mouse" over the Open My Menu button, the image changes, then when you click it - another little "window" with your links in it, (file name "mymenu.html") pops open. Your visitor can then choose a "link" and either close this window until he/she requires it again or minimise it by clicking on the "-" sign. This little window will open up again, when the Open My Menu button is Clicked.

So now you ask me what's the advantage. Well, to start with, your visitor can "hide" the Menu, so to say and then your BANNER or the WELCOME MESSAGE can remain visible using the space that otherwise would have been taken up by the Menubar. By the way, although you are viewing this in a Frames Page, the page size is actually smaller than normal because my menubars on the right & on top have taken up lot of space!!

Just a few more points:

  • This is good for Frames Pages - because otherwise you'll have trouble "targeting" the pages. when used in Frames pages you can target each file to open in the named frame (e.g. target="Frame_Name").
  • If you want to re-size this small window, change the "height" and "width" specifications in files "mymenu.html" as well as in "menu_id10.html".
  • Likewise, if you want to re-position the window, change the "top" and "left" specifications in files "mymenu.html" as well as in "menu_id10.html".
  • All "links" are in file named "mymenu.html".
  • Finally, as I have already told you, this window pops up "onClick". If you want this Menu window to pop-up on "onmouseover" instead, you can easily modify the script.
